Super quick: I got an offer from Uber in SPM 2 role. But my total compensation blew me away (close to double my current salary). My numbers: base = $200 Bonus = $50 k (mostly stock) Equity : = $300 k (or thereabouts) This is more than I am making now. However Uber equity is not liquid while my current compensation is liquid. How does this rate? Any other PMs at Uber want to weigh in? Any other PMs anywhere want to weigh in?
Is the bonus guaranteed? Is there a sign on bonus?
Uber is a pretty safe bet to go public and 6 months later still have the stock value be at your value. If those are RSUs then don’t worry about the illiquidity cost. If those are options then you could some illiquidity tax (reduce the equity by some % to adjust - for uber maybe -5%, for companies 1-2 years from IPO maybe -10% —20%. If there’s another uber cover-up reveled then these numbers increase for you). If you like the folks you interviewed with and don’t mind the constant elevator rides then take the offer
base is on the higher end, bonus is low, equity very low if it’s over 4 yrs
How did you compute $300k? What is the valuation you are using? Which team?
I assume you’re citing per year equity not over 4 years. If so, this is a strong offer. It’s 24k RSUs. What level are you at LinkedIn right now? The expectation for SPM 2 is for you to lead a PM team.
Yes per year
How many years of experience and what is your current title?
Op are you a GPM at LinkedIn? That’s what typically maps to SPM 2 at Uber (you can check levels.fyi)
24k RSUs sounds a lot! What's your current total comp?
It is a really good offer. What does bonus "mostly stock" mean? What percentage? There are more new SPM2 hires who haven't managed teams in the past.
Is that 300k over 4 years or per year?
