I'm considering applying to positions at Uber in Pittsburgh, but they've received a lot of negative press lately. Can anyone speak to the culture at that location in particular from an inside perspective?
you'll be among the richest people in Pittsburgh... real estate is so cheap. Go there and live like a king, for the kings work you'll be doing
A commoner can certainly hope for as much. Do you happen to have any shareable Uber-specific insight that might help me present myself as the most ideal candidate for a self-driving-car engineer/ machine learning engineer position? (e.g. projects to have in my portfolio, relevant tools/ techniques to familiarize myself with, etc.)
living in pittsburgh currently, the cost of real estate here is great...I haven't heard too much about Uber PGH culture
It's reassuring to hear the housing market is favorable. Can't say the same for out here in Philly
Culture isn't bad, but it's no bay area. very homogeneous, CMU heavy (undoubtedly a good school).
Does Uber Pittsburgh give similar stock packages as bay area? They'll be able to buy houses with 100% cash with the Softbank tender offer lol
it's pretty good. I wouldn't think twice before applying.
Thanks for the encouragement! Know your projects very well. Expect to be grilled heavily on ML concepts. We are quite tool agnostic, but knowing C++ / python goes a long way.
