Uber Relocation benefits

Those of you who had to move to San Francisco to work for Uber -- how helpful was the global mobility team in helping you figure out temporary and then permanent housing? Is this an easy process? Would love to hear experiences.

On that note, what's the best neighborhood that's priced low relative to how convenient it is to Uber's offices? Nob hill? This would be my first time in SF, I've been Googling shit but tbh it's been only minimally helpful.

Nob Hill is nice but make sure your actually getting Nob Hill and not the tenderloin (aka lower nob hill, aka tendernob, aka the loin).

You want to make sure you get a place above Bush or ideally above Pine. Pack heights is a great area that's a tad more expensive but is quite nice. You can also live much lower in pac heights (like Franklin and Sutter)

Thank you for the very specific advice! Exactly the sort I was hoping for. The last time I was in SF I took a..bad?...turn and ended up in a street that made me feel a bit nervous. None of the 50 or so "best neighborhoods in San Francisco" listicles I've read so far contain vital info on how to avoid less savory streets, which is priority when you are a small statutured person.

Isn't Uber moving to mission Bay soon? If so that's actually going to be far away from it's current location

The irony is that Uber is a pretty bad location (Civic). Just make sure you avoid the tenderloin: Between Van Ness, Mason, Market and Bush. Civic/Soma isn't great either but it has some of the nicest apartments in the city

Oh no! My bad! I was just wondering how you were able to get an offer when you were outside the country. Would you be able to elaborate please ? Sorry, I know I am going on a tangent here.

I have always lived in the South Bay so I am not sure what the best places are to live in the city.

Relo support was pretty terrible for my move but that isn’t always the case.

Hayes Valley, Japantown and the Mission are prob better than having to worry about the Tenderloin imo

In what way? Moving stuff bit or finding a place to live bit? If I'm not happy with the options in presented, are they ok with me just submitting receipts for reimbursement do you know?

Hayes valley is absurdly expensive and Japan Town is a tad far away. Mission is super nice.
