Also, I currently have an offer from Uber with almost identical figures, except higher target cash bonus. I'm pretty sure this is the standard offer for a senior software engineer.

      Did you have competing offers?

    My initial offer for SSE-1(a) was 180k, 680k(based on $33 evaluation) and re-negotiated the rsus to 760k again(23k shares)on $33 eval.
    Target bonus - 15k + $45k rsus.

I had 1 competing offer from Other Fangs.

Having a look at some of the Uber offers. My target bonus is so much more, but I didn't negotiate. Do some teams have higher target bonuses?

No clues, my HR was very clear that base and target is non negotiable , rsus they have some wiggle room. Hence this offer. What is your breakdown ?

Wow, brilliant bonus refresher. I am assuming stock is based on 33$ value. Maybe for me they covered it in initial grant. Not sure though.

Sorry about the confusion. Yes it's 16k units. I used units because we don't really know what they'll be worth after IPO. It doesn't make a difference what they're "worth" when the offer was made, right?

Of course it does. Uber is offering you a number of RSUs which they believe at a specific point in time eqautes to a certain dollar figure. Without knowing the underlying value of the specific RSU, the number of meaningless.

Also, 409a figures are a internal value, most people won't know this value as it's not public.

Yes you have a point - if they're worth more at the time of offer they will probably try to offer fewer units.

I wasn't clear in my question, what I meant was if it's the same number of units, what each unit is worth at the time of offer won't make any difference to the final value, because it's up to the market price in the end, right?

I mean, 1 rsu is still 1 share and most employees get common share?

Correct, all that information should be in the RSU vesting attachment in your offer.

Very low end in terms of RSUs relative to work experience.

Keep in mind that he’s from non tech company. Usually hey only give competitive package if you’re coming from direct competitor or a well know top tier company.

I'm glad to hear that HTtE80. I guess having competing offers helps.

This is a very good offer. Looking at your package I regret joining at such a low package.

Sorry man. For what it's worth, my current TC is only about half of that and 2-3 years ago it used to be a quarter of that. So you've had a head start.

Typical for Uber, low-ball offer. Feel free to counter, it's expected there. I wasn't able to come to a middle ground with them, but they definitely are willing to move

Its a very good offer. Not low ball at all. 16k rsus are worth ~700k.

Oooooohhh I thought OP meant $16k RSU. Okay that's not nearly as idiotic an offer. Actually quite good

      How are 16k RSU worth 700k? Isn't Uberd 409a $33?
