Uber offer

Got sr eng offer recently. 175 + 14000 share However, such value is based on previous evaluation of Uber (68.5B). With recent SoftBank deal getting close, the company value will be 30% down, means my package will be shrunk before I join the company, so it won’t worth join then. Am I over concerned? Is this deal short term pain but long term gain for Uber? Uber new hires what are your thoughts?

Don't try to fool people, they deserve more. U are already here so u cannot ask for more, but the op can!

Uber Autodispos Nov 29, 2017

Okay, but isn’t the offer fair enough as a sr, assuming 5a.

Uber Senior3 Nov 29, 2017

don't accept this offer, even the discount is less than 30%, it will be at least 20%. 48.77 is not a real value, it is past.

Google arbiterus0 Nov 29, 2017

You really think so?

Uber Sight Nov 30, 2017

48.77 is based on revenue + future growth potential. Revenue is still there and growing. The discount is because of the leadership changes and past scandals, which will subside. The truth is that I’m glad the valuation is taking a hit now. Equity is granted based on a dollar value. Lower valuation = more shares granted to achieve the same amount. I want it to stay low now and rise post-IPO when we are all vested.

Do you have competing offers? If not then they will not increase anyway.

Uber Riope849 Nov 29, 2017

What is your level at FB e5? How many years?

Facebook poNH65 OP Nov 29, 2017

E5 at FB , 7 years exps

Google nuckchorri Nov 29, 2017

You must be really desperate to accept this offer. I know l3 in Google who got better offer.

Uber Ehdow839 Nov 29, 2017

@nuckchorri don’t be ridiculous

Twilio 999999 Nov 29, 2017

Did you try negotiating?

Microsoft $oftie$ Nov 29, 2017

going from FB to Uber sounds like a bad idea. With the recent data breach, Uber is set to pay a huge fine that will come from your future bonus.

Uber NTxg66 Nov 29, 2017

It depends on how much risk you can take. You get discount when you buy things in large amount so 30% discount for $8B purchase is not unreasonable. Small buyers (including employees who are buying with their time/skills) get no discount. The question is whether you want to buy Uber stock now at certain price.

Uber Uber4687 Nov 29, 2017

OP, there is so much misunderstanding and misinformation around the tender offer that you have to make your own individual decision in the end. Sensationalism sells. Sensationalism + Uber REALLY sells. Headlines of “Uber valuation down 30%” sounds far better than “Uber employees offered early liquidity at a starting discounted bid, not unlike FB, AirBnB in the past”. In the end look past these headlines. Uber grew over 14% in ONE quarter despite all the supposed turmoil. But of course I’m biased and there are significant risks. In the end, do what your gut tells you to. GL and keep us posted!

Microsoft Fanta Nov 29, 2017

I don't know. I was bullish on Uber but Q3 results were suprising. $1.6bn loss and only $2bn in revenue?!

Uber Sight Nov 30, 2017

Fanta, your numbers are not accurate.

Amazon satyaBezos Nov 29, 2017

That's the same offer I got few days back.. didn't change a lot after negotiation.. happily declined :)
