Any tips for the Uber onsite interview. I'm interviewing with the Driver team (backend role) in a couple of weeks. What kind of questions are asked in the OOP interview?

Keep that rating up, or you’ll get kicked off

Mostly I can map them to LC medium (medium-hard). None of them were from LC though I think. Some interviewers ask for optimized code that compiles and runs (my first round did). Others were ok with whiteboard or laptop (onsite). I had a very good experience and they provided hints when stuck. I also had a trie question. It's not really an advanced DS and is pretty common for interviwers. I got that for Amazon onsite too. It isn't that difficult and I would encourage you to look at that rather than doing Uber tagged LC. General LC practice helped me. Good luck!

Thanks. I got L4 (SE II) 3 yoe. 1 Design round, 2 coding and 2 values round onsite + 1 coding before onsite. You are joining Uber too?

That's great man! Congrats! So for some interviews, they were okay if you didn't have code that compiled?

Thanks! Only the interviewer from first round asked me to run on hackerrank and it ran. For others, I did white boarding but they needed a complete/optimized code I guess although they do give hints if stuck.

How was the system design part? what kind of questions do they ask?

Wasn't different from regular system design questions. Can't post question here due to NDA. Basic build up of components followed by scalability etc.

Did you clear amazon onsite? If yes may I know which one are you choosing and why?

Yes, I had Amazon, Microsoft and Uber offers. Similar TCs. It was a tough choice. However, I chose Uber since I felt they have comparitively more opportunities for green field projects and team/project sounded more interesting. They have good perks too.

Mine was a trie based non LC question (would mostly map to LC medium). The interviewer was a treat to talk to - he gave him me hints when I needed a nudge. If the interviewer was looking for a solution alone, I wouldn't be going onsite.

I guess as long as the interview is more collaborative then it works but yeah it can be intimidating seeing such a question

Yeah. I haven't started advanced DS yet. I'mma just concentrate on basic LC tagged for now. If I get a tried , I guess it's just not my day. Interviews are half luck and half prep. I can only control one of them 😂

I guess next level is "arrays are special DS" coz they r not a simple variable. Sigh

Mostly LC medium. Biggest thing is to make sure to eat beforehand. My on-site was 5.5 hours long with no lunch or breaks.

No, just coding, system design, and walking through past projects.

Cool. I have an upcoming phone interview (Backend ) coming up. Mind sharing the LC level of your phone interview ? Is the interviewer looking for your thoughts or just optimal solution with all test cases pass ? I have a hqckerrank link so I assume the code will be compiled . Any pointers or takeaways from your phone interview ? Thanks and best of luck !

I would say my LC level was medium. I was able to solve it pretty quickly and optimally. Do some of the frequent Uber tagged LC questions and you should be good. Just explain your thought process before you start coding. Usually the interviewer will give you a sign if you are on the right path
