Uber onsite interview

1. I appeared for onsite interview at Uber in India. I think I aced three rounds, 2 coding and one design but did average in bar raiser and hiring manager round. I currently have an offer with booking.com in Amsterdam. If I clear the Uber onsite, and tell them about my offer, will they consider me for Amsterdam team or I have to apply again? 2. How is the relocation process for Uber Amsterdam compared to booking? Booking has an excellent way to make you relocate. Do they hire people who are in India directly? I heard the pay and culture is better there. I researched about booking and the results are not encouraging to join. YOE 3.5 years.

Hi I don't really have an answer for you except all the best for your Uber offer. Can you share the difficulty level of interview? Algo questions were leetcode med or hard? How in depth was the design round?

Coding part I found easy. Medium LC. No graph, dp. Interval related questions. Design part was challenging but standard, Google doc commenting, design Facebook messenger.

Can you explain the Google Docs commenting one ? What were the functional requirements?

Most likely you would have to apply for the uber job in AMS.

Uber bkh201 Nov 24, 2019

Uber AMS is becoming a culture of PIP, after the layoffs and company not doing well in general be careful, ask for more info from other engineers there. You don’t wanna work for few months and be put on PIP. Heard leadership at AMS office is messed up.

Why? I think they are hiring a lot in ams now

Uber plkd2784 Dec 1, 2019

They are hiring does not mean anything I guess? Obviously they will hire for backfill and attrition otherwise who will do the work??

Don’t believe what people say on blind. It’s truly amazing working here and the impact is enormous. Those who were let go we’re underperforming and a lot of bad apples are leaving now. Once they all leave, we can finally start building a bigger and much better company.

Uber jklf547 Nov 24, 2019

Lol, lot of bad apples. Don’t fool yourself and others. There’s probably nothing to hide now, everything is pretty much out in tha news

I’m not fooling myself. If you think otherwise then thats on you. Leave if you don’t believe.

I’ve worked at both companies. Booking relocation is amazing. I’ve heard a couple horror stories about Uber relocation. However moving from Booking to Uber is usually difficult, at least within Amsterdam. For some reason many of my former colleagues got rejected. Booking is a good company as well. Many people are jaded and it’s not as fast, but amazing work life balance, good pay, being hours away from anywhere in Europe are big pluses. If you don’t get into the vest and rest mentality in booking you’ll have plenty of time to improve yourself and make your way to the Uber Amsterdam or even better - somewhere in the valley. Best of luck!

Can I directly move to silicon valley in USA from Europe in a new company or I need to work for 1 year for the same company in Europe? What happens if the company in valley where I want to work has no office in Europe?

Hey op, can you share the offer details?

Stay away from Uber on Amsterdam if your stay in NL depends on a visa sponsorship. Uber in Ams has been doing lots of PIPs to reduce personnel.
