Uber or Amazon? Lesser of two evils

Got a return offer after my internship at Amazon. Is going to Uber any better if I were to get an offer from there? I'm debating on if it's worth returning to Amazon. I get to pick my team.

People in my team do 11-6 or 10-5.
      Better right?

I mean, there's no pressure for me to stay. I just generally stay because I enjoy it. Today I did 10-5 because I just couldn't see any additional work getting done. An extra hour a day seems like a rather minor perk (especially when you consider that hours generally aren't enforced in tech as a whole) lol

Let's use Price is Right rules. People in MY team do 11:01-6 or 10:01-5.

      YOU. BEEN. SERVED, UBER BRO-CODERRRRRR.

... Can we not make sweeping generalizations about people based on the company they work for? That'd be nice.

Get enough shit done, you could work 30 hours per week at amazon. Deliver results... no one questions your methods imo

Uber is probably going to get better given recent events. However I wonder about moral there. Amazon is going to give you a broader array of teams and technologies to work on.

The management is still having publicised internal battles. That would dissuade me from joining Uber.

We have a lot of breadth at Uber. Also more open source than Amazon's largely proprietary stack.

Moral could be better but we're still crushing it.

What team would you join at each?

Also, Uber's internal transfer policy is awesome.

Amazon. I'm biased, but company values and philosophy are great. Some teams' cultures are better than others. You could pick the Flex team and build our version of Uber or work on Alexa or ML or logistics or robotics or video or music or... well, you get the idea. You could also live just about anywhere in the world. In fact, were hiring in southern California. ;) If you like perfect weather year-round and beaches and stuff, come on down.

'Better' is an awfully broad term. What are you prioritizing? Wealth? Perks? Future opportunities? Name recognition? Work life balance? The company's image?

Uber. Amazon is way too big. Uber still feels like a startup.

Did you like it here? Which offer pays more? If uber pays more, start there. If you really liked Amazon and are willing to get paid less (assuming Uber has a better offer), stay here.
