Which company do you think will win big in the next couple of years? Lyft seems to be focusing too much on fluff while moving slower. TC: 230~ first year, 200 (with paper money) afterwards
Haven't been able to use Lyft in years since price is always higher.
I believe both Uber and Lyft will coexist. It seems difficult to see a third competitor as the operating costs are high and profit margins too low. Lyft will stick around by virtue of being Uber's top competitor. However, I feel Uber will still be the winner for a long time to come. Don't see Lyft doing anything very different to bridge that gap drastically. Also, Uber is quite diversified. Way ahead in self driving tech, and Uber eats and frieght seem to be doing well for Uber. Lyft afaik don't even support most of these use cases.
Saw the news about Waymo starting ride sharing operations in Phoenix next month? If successful, it might put both Uber and Lyft at risk by getting a head start. Operating costs and hence prices will be ~80% lower.
Yup, that is a real danger I did not take into account. But I am very skeptical as to how comfortable people would be in accepting self driving cars. I believe self driving tech can be applicable in more niche use cases like grocery delivery, food delivery. The distances to be travelled are smaller, also you can use small cars to achieve this improving overall safety. I think one startup called Nuro does this.
I was seeing Uber go down the toilet until Dara went over there. Confident he can turn things around.
Interesting that the split on the poll roughly translates to the actual market share of each company 😆
The Uber new grad tc is much lower tho
You said it yourself, Lyft is trailing in product. Can't take advantage of Uber's bad press forever
230 for new grad?!
That includes a signon I presume. Although it is 200k from second year which is not unheard of, especially considering it is paper money as of now.
Yup
