Uber vs startup:Bschool

What would look better on resume if i plan to apply to bschool this fall: startup that is not well known vs Uber that is going to ipo this year. Both non eng jobs

B schools care about brand and the story you can tell. I’d lean towards Uber. I also wouldn’t recommend b school unless you plan to move away from tech, posted this article before but it’s spot on: https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbestechcouncil/2018/05/29/do-i-need-an-mba-to-be-a-product-manager-in-tech/#580bd3f17a4f

Thanks for the article, but I find it (even as a former googler) at least somewhat limiting to get PM jobs without an MBA. Also it can open the door to future leadership positions, which probably wouldn't happen without an MBA?

I work in tech but do corp finance, looking to do corp dev/BD after bschoo

How did you get into Corp Fin at Uber? How is the work and wlb in finance there?

Its trash wlb, well personally. I have a shitty manager that responds to emails 24/7

Unless your looking to go into investment banking or private equity or hedge funds, it is probably not worth it. Just wait a year then transfer to bd here

If it's purely about which one looks better for Bschool, it's uber, 100% Plenty of people work at random-ass startups The biggest thing you can do for your b school app is make it clear that you will 100% be landing a dope job afterwards... With uber on the resume that's a lot more likely than with a startup (esp if it's just a year)
