Hello All - I want to learn Financial Modeling. Any idea how are udemy courses on financial modelling. I am planning to buy 2 courses 1) Beginner to pro in Excel - Financial Modeling and Valuation 2) Financial Modeling - Build a complete DCF Valuation Model Any inputs will be appreciated. TC-150K
If you are trying to get into corpdev or venture capital do not bother with udemy. For free/cheap resources: asimplemodel.com, and macabacus (operating model and lbo model). For a premium, paid resource, use Breaking into Wall Street.
Thank you for your inputs. Yes, I came across asimplemodel.com website and planning to take monthly subscription ($3) . I went through couple of videos and content is super awesome.
Quick question - Can basics of financial modeling and finance in general help me get into Corp Dev/Venture capital. What I am trying to understand is that how deep knowledge I need to have before being considered for role?
Wallstreet prep is recognized as one of the best
I would say that it’s better to go for corporate finance institute, this will be a better resource to learn modeling, i.e. basic financial analysis, budgeting, three-statement models, merger and LBO modeling. It will cost you more, but will set you with a good foundation. Heard that Wallstreet prep is a good one too, but haven’t tried it myself though so can’t comment here. Some books will be useful too since these modeling courses don’t teach you everything that can be actually done in Excel for modeling purposes
CFI certification is definitely on my radar. Their financial modeling courses are expensive and I am on budget. I have 10+ years of experience in Enterprise SaaS product space and consulting. Before I go big, I need to test waters and see if companies will be willing to give me an opportunity or not. If I will get somewhere then CFI will definitely happen. Thank you for your inputs and guidance.
Wallstreet Prep is widely recognized as top quality. They have a great online setup, very easy to follow. Check if wallstreetoasis.com has a corporate development interview guide, it would probably include some modeling resources as well. I have the PE interview guide and it's been a great resource. I found the modeling resources that were included almost more beneficial than Wallstreet Prep as they include models at different complexity levels. It's been most productive for me to gain mastery of a basic model, then an intermediate model, then an advanced model.
On this level anything is fine. I mean if this is what you mean by modeling
Yes, I want to have basic understanding of Financial Modeling and revise some of the financial concepts. I am trying to get into Corporate Development/Venture Capital domain.
