It’s pretty hard to get a good idea of how much companies pay PM’s that they hire right from undergrad bc usually there aren’t that many/that much info on Glassdoor’s. I know google’s aPM pays about 124k I’m wondering if people know, from word of mouth or own experiences what compensation looks like for PM’s/aPM’s out of undergrad? (Uber, Lyft, Microsoft, FB, DoorDash, Spotify, etc)
Get an offer and you will know for sure
Believe I’m in the process of getting one, hence the research into comp expectations
My 2 cents. Don't join straight out of college as a junior PM. You are setting yourself up for a lot of wandering before you get the lead PM opportunity. Rather I would advice you to get expertise in one domain such as SW dev or UX or Data. Once you have one domain that you have the experience to count on, you can leap frog to the PM role that you desire.
Hm what do you mean setting yourself up for a lot of wandering? I’m actively trying to develop data skills (becoming abundantly obvious it’s necessary for moving quickly)
I also don’t study anything technical so I thought this would be an amazing opportunity
DoorDash!? What a dork
What’s wrong with DoorDash?
What's wrong with being a dork?
Microsoft 150k negotiable Uber 150k NN Facebook (around same not sure) Smaller firms APM (Dropbox Yahoo) : 175k
Wow thanks for sharing. Surprised to find that smaller firms pay more?
Always the case with any industry. Goldman sachs pays the least on wall street. Name discount, because they know candidates will pick them over others even if there is a small difference
I think it also depends significantly on negotiating power. Facebook probably wouldn’t care too much about an offer you have from a small startup but that startup might be willing to pay a significant premium for you if they know you’re interviewing with other companies as well, especially FAANG.
