How is Unity comp in Seattle area for engineering roles? Is Base/stock on par with Airbnb, Lyft and alike? Thought to apply there, but looking at Glassdoor the reviews are very controversial...
Waste of time. Way below market
Very low
I can tell you about stock options. Unity recently split ISO stocks options and recruiters might try to convince you that stock would be worth Way much higher than the actual price.
Salary is market rate but equity is much worse. small grant amount + expiring options. Its a really fun place to work though. I know gaming isn't as lucrative as FANG or lyft / uber but i feel they are stingy with equity. Shame.
Also controversial Glassdoor reviews are not also completely untrue at least for San Francisco office.
How do stock options refresh? If you model an offer with initial option vest of 4 years, you just end up at base only after that?
No refreshers for 2 years. period. After that refreshers only for top talent (not sure who defines / decides who is the top talent). They don’t care if you stay or go. Many good devs leave for better pay after 12 to 18 months. Don’t listen to recruiters. They all lie that you get refreshers every 4 months.
Nomeansno knows of what he/she speaks
Sucks
Any update on how Unity is for non-tech business roles? Does comp still suck?
Unity's comp is abysmal, they gave me an offer that was 3/4ths of market rate
im really curious how u think about it now :)
