Up for promotion, how soon can I leave?

Ive been at my company for 5 years. I should be promoted next month to manager. Ive been applying to manager roles at other companies for the past few months. I know I wont get the salary that I want at my current company. How long do I need to wait after my promotion to re-start applying elsewhere? Im especially interested in hearing what potential employers might consider too soon? There are only a few companies in my area that hire for this role. If I apply too soon I will most likely be re-applying to companies

Higher the roles, higher is the time you have to spend proving that you are up for that in your next job. From my experience, atleast 2 years as a manager if you want a managerial role in your next company. If you are already getting a manager role in the next company with better TC, time to jump!

Jump if you get it otherwise sit on what you have. What's that a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.

I would personally consider it unethical to accept a promotion to manager if you were planning on leaving shortly.

Unethical? That’s a strong word to use in this situation.. care to elaborate? The way I see it is this employee is simply looking out for their best interest, a company would do the exact same thing if roles were reversed

That’s why I asked. I’m concerned that’s how it’d be perceived by hiring managers. How long do you think I’d need to stay? When the promotion was initially mentioned I told them I don’t see a future for myself there, but I’m committed to doing a good job while I am. They have very high turnover. Only one other person has lasted more than 2 years It’s easy to explain in an interview, but difficult in a resume
