Hi Guys,

Urgent help needed, I am offered "Cloud Support Engineer Security" role with AWS in Dallas, I spoke with the recruiter and he has flatly refused to provide a range and asked me to provide a number for Total Compensation, TC (includes Bonus Yr1/Yr2, Stock 5/15/40/40), he also mentioned that if I am serious to join Amazon I should provide a number otherwise they have lots of candidates that are interested in joining Amazon (kind of rude but what can you do, its Amazon :) )

I have 15+ years experience in Networking Support/design, people and project management experience, CCIE and Masters degree.

I am really hoping that some one can point out the range so that I can provide a good number to the recruiter. I haven't disclosed my current salary (not sure if its a good idea), I am currently in Boston but will be moving to Dallas TX if I accept the job.

Any help will be appreciated.

Does this matter? Not comfortable sharing but it’s competitive.

So you’re on an anonymous app wanting to ask what compensations should be and not willing to share your current comp?

Gotta get over that “don’t talk about your comp” mentality. That’s the whole point of this.

Alright fair enough, my yearly TC is:
      Base: $185,000
Performance Bonus: $27,750 (15% of Base)
      One Time Sign On: $20,000

      No rsu's/equity.

      Would this help?

If you read posts here you might want to change your mind to join Amazon.

I don’t know, I wasn’t told that information neither I asked. Should you be told which level it is?

You have a right to ask the recruiter for which level you applied for so that folks in blind can help you otherwise it will be tough!

From "blind app" research it looks like they rarely hire L6, so it may be an L5.

I think for your number of years of experience L5 is downgraded they might comeback with TC as 210-230k around again it depends with your interview feedback as well.

I personally believe my interview went very well, there wasn't any "tell me about" question that I hesitated to respond or had to think twice, I had lots of solid examples available mapped with leadership principles based on my 15+ years of experience.

Take your current TC, double it, and write up a fancy spreadsheet to consider cash value of other company benefits.

Dude grow some balls and ask the TC you want if they say no move on.

Is this an amazon recruiter or a third party?

My experience with them was much different. They were quite forth coming with the compensation after I asked. I think there is less data on the salaries for the Dallas office publicly available but perhaps figure out the Seattle compensation for this role and then figure out a fair cost of living adjustment for Dallas
