Stick with VTI and VXUS. Avoid IT specific funds. You already work in tech, you don't need to concentrate risk in one industry any more than you already do.

What's the major difference between going for an ETF vs the mutual fund version ?
They are identical except the way they trade. ETFs trade on an exchange throughout the day and mutual funds only trade once per day at marker close. For long term investors there's no real difference.
