Last year in the very first call, a VMWare recruiter was very adamant and forceful in asking me my current and expected compensation even though California laws restrict this. When i told her she says I m crazy and noone gives that much and I m unreasonable and lying about my current comp. She said noone gets 150k total package for 7 years of experience in sunnyvale office. I said I m getting it currently (can show offerletter), and I feel underpaid, she said she is gonna tell the hiring manager know that I m lying about my current comp and i have unusually high expectations in terms of comp and we should cancel his interviews and candidacy. I got a reject email from them after a week.
Noone is interested in this....
One time a recruiter contacted me about a position. After a lengthy discussion regarding what I was currently making and what I was looking for she told me that the position had just been filled minutes earlier. Then she called my boss the next day and told him she could replace me with someone who cost half as much.
Hey mind if I PM you
Sure
Find another recruiter from the same company and report this. 150k is close to new grad salary.
Yeah I'd contact another recruiter at VMware. I easily made that much when I was at VMware
recruiting idiots like these need to be “slut shamed” on LinkedIn or twitter. We’ve had one of these idiots on our recruiting team once- the applicant did the right thing of forwarding me the emails. I went to recruiting manager and HR to get her fired the next day.
Nice. What exactly did she say that was a fireable offense? Was it because the recruiter was trying to force the applicant to disclose their current comp?
u did right @p0lo. because if the OP is not exaggerating then it's against Vmware ethics and at least i won't allow that with a probable candidate. negotiation is not forcing someone's opinion.
Wtf?? That's new grad comp. Is this for SWE? You should contact another recruiter and report this one.
Good for u. Atleast they cancelled the interview with out wasting much time. I was there for an onsite interview in 2016 and till date i dont know the result. The recruiter never got back to me.
I think you’re probably being a little misleading here. She probably asked what your SALARY was and you’re responding with total comp. Those are two different numbers.
Even then, 150k is on the lower end of senior engineer salary
No it isn’t. You realize amazon caps out their salaries at $160K right? So if the max you can make at Amazon is $160k, then how is $150k on the low end?
It makes sense if the position is receptionist or admin.
You work at ieee?
