Hey Floridians or those familiar with FL. I’m looking to buy vacation property in FL. Close to the beach. Gulf side (not ocean), condo, not something big. Likely spend 2-3 weeks there a year. Let family & friends stay. AirBnB it for the rest of the time. I’m married. 1 kid. Big extended family. I’m partial to Siesta Key. Is there any other area that has a dynamic vibe? Better? How? Oh, St. Pete comes a close second. Any recommendations? NOTE I’m not asking financial advice. I don’t care what you think of vacation home costs. Not your money. ¯\_( ˘͡ ˘̯)_/¯ Yes, I guess this is a humblebrag. By an anonymous entity ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If it helps you feel any better, I have a tiny (teeny) dick.
I'm partial to the St. Pete/Clearwater area myself and I wouldn't suggest anything else besides what you already have.
It was No 1 till the Don Cesar changed hands. Love that place. Seen many a sunset from it. Now the plans for the area are a bit in the air...
I lived near siesta key for many years. imo the other, less busy/touristy, parts of the coast are nicer (think: Everglades city) but it'll be much easier to get Airbnbs filled around Sarasota.
Everglades City is too far south for me. But yes, Sarasota is within the range.
If you have the cash Boca Grande is a very nice island about an hour south of Sarasota
I lived in FL for the last 27 years, been to every beach in the east/west coast. I love the east coast for surf (usually st. Augustine area). But my family loves the west coast for vacation (prettier water). Here’s my top: Siesta Destin/Fort Walton Anna Maria Island St Augustine Cocoa West Palm
Destin, FL
I’ve been once. Any reason why it’s better than Siesta Key
