I recently joined Tesla and the position I am working on do not sponsor visa and based on my hiring manager I cannot switch to other position unless I complete a year at Tesla. Is there anyone who had a similar situation and got switched to other role within a year for sponsorship? Shall I wait for a year or switch before to other company? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You should've asked about this before joining.
Yeah, why didn't you ask before joining ?
Well, I thought this will be a good company to start the career and the work profile was good too. But now seeing various changes in H1B laws these days and expecting some more in future it's better to have 3 attempt then less.
leetcode.
The next H1b application will be filed in March next year. If you are able to complete your one year by that time, you can wait. If not then you should immediately transfer to another employer who will file your visa application next year.
I am thinking of same too. But would this small experience in Tesla would help to get a good job? Or should I wait until I complete a year and later apply for companies?
That is really upto to the employer whether or not they consider your experience. But every employer will understand your reason for leaving so soon (no visa sponsorship by current employer). If you think long term, few years down the line if you have a H1b from your new employer, it will not matter that you also had a few months experience in Tesla.
What’s the position?
I am in the energy business of Tesla and the role is into finance side basically.
Did they ask you about your OPT when you filed I-9? I assume that you filled up that you didn’t need visa in the future? I did the same and wondering the process now.
