WARN Act - How Does it Work & Consequences

I just got laid off via the WARN act. Does anybody know exactly what that means for me if I start at a new job before the two months expires? 1. Do I have to notify my old company that I got a new job? Can I just keep collecting the check from my old company while working at the new one? 2. What will happen to me if I start a new job before the 60 days of the WARN period expire and I don’t tell anybody? Could my old job come after me? Could I lose my new job if they find out? Advice and guidance appreciated. Thanks.

1. Yes, you can keep collecting paycheck from both your new job and old job. 2. No, you don't have to notify anyone. Only caveat is if your old company offer you another position in the company within the WARN and if you deny that u will loose your severance package.

calif law related to layoffs

It’s a federal law that requires companies give advance notice to employees if the company is about to do mass layoffs. some states like calif and NY have their own regulations that go further.

You don’t have to tell anyone.
