Was contacted by Waymo to interview. Told them I wanted time to prep. A while later they sent me an email notice about my upcoming phone screen date/time, which I had never scheduled. Cancelled it and asked to reschedule. They then sent me another email about my newly scheduled phone screen date/time. Told them I needed to reschedule that one too and that I would let them know some times that worked for me. A bit later I get an email that they decided not to hire me. đ I mean, I feel like I dodged a bullet but WTF.
Unemployment is under 1% in IT. The world doesn't revolve around you my man, they found someone else who actually wanted the job and wasn't wasting their time. Sorry it didn't work out for you, best of luck with your job "search"
I donât expect anything to revolve around me. But every other company in every other search Iâve ever had has worked with me to schedule things. Waymo put things on the calendar and then afterwards told me about it. Thatâs highly unprofessional and not the kind of company I want to work for. But Iâm sure that my search WILL be fine, seeing as I have onsites stacked up with every other big name.
đđź Yup.
You didnât do the needful.
Personal experience is recruiters do ask candidate to provide a range of time slots available before scheduling, but I wonder your responses being cancel & âwouldâ let them know what time works for you instead of proposing an alternative time right away makes you sound arrogant, insincere and difficult. Also, was it an initial phone screen with the recruiter? If it was it should be more of chat and at that point it would be less than 10% promising of hiring you so the more difficult it is the more likely they will lose interests.
This. Saying âdonât call me, Iâll call youâ is a good way to get stiffed. Especially when itâs for a very limited position of job reqs. They wonât wait for you to get your shit together and leetcode. Itâs not like google who canât feed the beast fast enough. Theyâll move on.
This was after the recruiter screen and after I told them I wanted to prep for a month or two and also I would email them the times I had open. They knew I had a job and went ahead and scheduled things for work hours without asking me of times that could work. Itâs baffling. But I honestly think itâs no loss and a great way to figure out they would not have been good to work for.
Cruise is hiring
Grow up
Indeed is continuing to grow and looking for SWE. DM me for more info.
Why did you accept an interview for the position if you were not âreadyâ? Donât waste their time. They have roles to fill. The world doesnât revolve around you.
My thoughts too, didnât know itâs possible to ask for 1-2mths to prep... didnât that say something about youâre not good /on top of your job?
Of course itâs possible to ask for 1-2 months prep. How do you think I got into Facebook and Microsoft and got onsites to google and amazon? Just ask recruiters.
stupid ass
You blew them off twice and youâre bummed that they went elsewhere?
How did I blow them off when they were scheduling me for things without consulting me? What kind of company does that? And Iâm not bummed at all. But I am very entertained by the arrogance in how they conducted themselves.
