I work at a small company and recently we've been acquired. With all the changes going on we've switched from having our own HR to hiring an external HR company to figure out employee payment. They couldn't get everyone's direct deposit ready in time, so they ended up paying everyone checks...except ...big surprise...everyone's checks bounced. Since HR is external from our on company and can't even figure out how to give us our damn payment on time, I literally have no place else to discuss my frustrations about this issue. It's come to a point where I'm considering leaving the company. Has anyone faced a similar situation? Should I leave my company right now? I can't believe they would do this to us in this time...wtf...
Do you work for moviepass?
HYMN
What type of work do you do? We're always hiring.
Tread carefully and be prepared to look out for signs that layoffs are coming.
Tell us the company so we don’t interview.
Or if they are dysfunctional...just show up on the pay day and they might just write you a check without any verification.
LOL
Seen it Experienced it HR VP was fired
Start looking for another job immediately. Once you don’t get a check, waiting to see if it will ever come could be the worst mistake you ever made. If it was just a glitch, then you can stop your job hunt later
Don't wait too long, did they acquire you or the company?
Leave ASAP. Also let your banks know so you avoid any fees or penalties your bank may charge for depositing bad checks. Usually after a bad check is deposited, the bank will show the money immediately but within 48 hours will know whether it’s bad or not. Then they will automatically run the check again about 7-8 days later. If check is still bad, then they will charge you a penalty fee (sometimes a couple hundred dollars or % of check deposited). It’s stupid, backwards, and an insult to injury. Let your bank know ASAP to be able waive penalty. Also call that company’s bank to complain and before depositing any other checks to ask whether the account has sufficient funds to cover it. Let them know you’ve had bad experiences depositing checks from this account. I learned this the hard way in my earlier years at a startup.
