No questions, just venting. Wanted to get out of the low TC of Intel. Studied hard and got offers from 2 of the FAANGs around mid-2018, and chose G. The plan was to switch in Sept-end/October 2018. But missed the premium processing closing deadline of Sept 11 by a whisker. Since then, it's been 5 months. It's just frustrating to wait for the h1 transfer to get approved. Please acknowledge the rant if you relate or are in the same boat. Yoe-4 Tc-117k, 7k rsu
Can’t you just join? I understand you can join on filing. That’s what I’m doing, although it’s a slightly different situation.
I'm considering it. But my switch involves a slight change of technical domain, so there could be a minor chance of the transfer getting rejected. Do you mind sharing your thoughts on what you'd do in case your transfer gets rejected? Did you inquire about the policy of your new company to handle such cases?
The company said it has never happened to them before. I’ve also asked myself what would I do. Honestly, I don’t know exactly, but broadly speaking, I’m going to prepare a plan to shutdown my life in the US remotely, in case I have to jump on a plane. It would mean finding people that can do the paperwork for you (cancel your lease, put your stuff on a warehouse or sell it, etc). I also thought to have an application for a visitor visa ready made, so that I can file it immediately and so I can stay until they answer (not sure this would work given that another petition was rejected, hopefully they give a few days in that case). In all cases, a rejection would be a huge blow.
If it makes you feel better, waiting for first H1B approval since October 2018. Soon I can’t work due to other visa expiring.
Waiting since October end. In the same boat as you. This sucks. I feel I should have taken the risk and joined with receipt. This wait is frustrating.
Offered at G, filed H1 on Nov 16, H1 lawyers says petition was approved this week. Online still shows as case received status, may take couple of days to see updated online status. And might receive the packet from lawyer this week. I was hoping it was going to take long, service center was California. Might be just lucky, hopefully others will get through soon too.
That's great. What was your receipt date ? Is the attorney from BAL global ? Mine is. Anyway congrats. Getting some hope now.
Yeah BAL, receipt date was Nov 19
Same boat. Waiting since December
It's Google right? If your position at Intel was SWE and she at Google then why are scared to work on receipt? I guess you were a master's student before? Right?
Waiting for transfer since more than a year
Damn you serious?
I switched from intel 3 months back. H1 transfer filed 1st week of Nov. Approved 1st week of Feb. Although I moved to Texas so maybe the processing center might be different.
It’s “for 5 months” not “since 5 months”. Read an effing book. Or watch TV. Or god forbid take an english class.
Hope they enable premium back in Feb
