Hi, Am looking for a change and expecting a baby next year (2020). So wondering which companies have waiting period to be eligible for paternal (paternity) leave. In case of amazon 1 year of work time before to kids birthdate is mandatory. What about @Microsoft @Goole @Facebook and @Netflix ? Your answers will help me in taking a right decision.
I don’t know the answers of specific policies but it may be less stressful to take the leave at your current employer then just not come back and start fresh... versus just starting to learn and get integrated on a new team then take extended time away. That said, I suspect for a good candidate companies would negotiate on this even if they have a waiting period depending on your “must have” time away - could be a vacation exception versus a formal leave. You’d just need to be up front about it.
I started a new job being 8 month pregnant. The best decision I've done. People have different circumstances and being stuck at job that they hate/don't like might not be stressless experience
CS has a waiting period, 1 year, but it varies by state.
DB has 16 weeks maternal leave and 6 weeks paternal leave which is fully paid / no wait period
I interviewed at Google, Square, Lyft, Cruise Automation being pregnant. All companies didn't have the waiting period. Best leave for mothers at Google (almost 5 month), for fathers it used to be 12 weeks Best leave for fathers: Lyft and Uber (that has no waiting period too) - 18 weeks
Is that with full pay??
Yes
