“Once upon a time I was a liberal, but liberalism has changed,” he said. “I will no longer be a part of an ideology or political party that represents everything that contradicts my values of unity, equal opportunity, personal empowerment, compassion and love. So, I am walking way and I encourage all of you to do the same. Walk away.

“I have watched as the left has allowed themselves to become hypnotized by false narratives and conclusions perpetuated by social justice warriors who misrepresent and misconstrue facts, evidence and events to confirm their own biases that everyone who does not comply with their prejudicial conclusions and follow their orders is a racist, a bigot, a Nazi, a white supremacist, homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic and alt-right extremist,”

I understand being fed up with the Democratic party, as a moderate rationalist opposed to intersectionalist garbage. But Donald Trump is the biggest rejector of rationalism and empiricism out there. He stands opposed to everything that classical intellectual conservatives believed in. The problem is we have two horrific extremes of populism. The Left is suffering from massive amounts of prevalence induced concept change (read up on Daniel Gilbert's study at Harvard - we have replaced real problems like racism and sexism with microaggressions and intersectionalist bullshit). The Right is an unholy union of cynical rich white dudes who want a tax break, and the vast masses of angry, uneducated flyover state morons who have been left behind by the global economy and think their factory jobs will come back if we kick out the Mexicans and start a trade war with China. TLDR: the Left is unaware of their cognitive biases and the Right is a special mix of stupid and evil. So... what exactly should I walk away to? Where is the party of well-educated, reasoned thinkers, solving big problems for our country?

By your statements you are on the same left you described as being “biased”. This division only stops when we see each other as people with problems that we’d like to work through and not be compared to trash. Name calling only gets more name calling. What makes you think you’re a better person than the masses? Did you do something so wonderful for you to get a pass? All you’ve done is smear regular folks with your damn biased opinion.

      1) The alt-right has nothing to do with conservatism. White nationalists that actually want to rewrite the constitution are an extreme minority of the population. Maybe a few thousand at best. The only thing they share with republicans is their disdain for the left. But they are just as guilty of identity politics as the left. By contrast, the majority of conservatives outright reject identity politics.

      2) “uneducated flyover state morons” this exposes you as a total elitist who buys into the media’s depiction of the average conservative. How many episodes of the daily show or late night tv that have segments where “average conservatives” are interviewed? They always pick the morons to showcase. Conservative YouTube personalities are guilty of the same tactic. The difference is that at least conservatives are aware that these interviews do not represent the average intellect of the opposing view.

what does any of this have to do with the Dems? if anything, the Dems aren't progressive enough.

Dem party would be considered conservative in many other countries (NZ/Australia for example)
