Walmart UPDATE: SWE Level 3 to Senior
Hi I’ve 7 yoe and after my onsite, I’m being offered software engineer level 3 at Walmart with the following package: Base salary: 140K 20K RSU’s (vest over 4 years) Annual RSU Refresher of 20K Annual Bonus of 16% Annual Raise of at least 2.3% Sign on bonus: 15k Thanks for all the useful comments!! UPDATE: Yesterday I told I have an MS and 7+ yrs and this is not what I expected and today they updated the offer saying, Senior Software Engineer Base Salary: 155K Sign on Bonus: 20K $40k RSU (vest over 4 years) Annual RSU Refresher of 40k Annual Bonus 20% Any thoughts? This is BS from Walmart. I have no clue why they offered you SE3 and then bumped it up to Sr. I am sorry for this stupidity. Not sure when this would end.
I had the same question. When they got back I asked why they offered me level 3 and now senior and they said because I asked which is 50% of the reason and then they considered my background education and yoe which is remaining 50% of the reason, they bumped up the offer... but the job posting they are asking me to apply asks for 3+ years of experience... I’m like, the logic is so off and it’s so obvious and why can’t they see it... I see that they have outsourced hiring to TeK systems so not sure what’s going on ..
Sorry about that ... recruiting is shit here. Anyways have a call with hiring manager and explain the situation and why they did not consider you for staff. What you need to prove to get hired as staff. Just to be sure your 7 years is all in the US in product roles ?
Tell them you want Staff and bump up all the numbers
Haha 😂 they said they have already reached the limit for my offer... I was expecting senior and thought I could bump up numbers but they are smart/overconfident, they gave a lesser level and then bumped it up so I couldn’t ask for more. If they had told it’s because of interview feedback and stick to that level 3 it would make sense. Hmm 😕 I need to get back to them in 2 business days. Do offers always have such small time limits?
Threaten to walk away.
You can ask for more in base and joining bonus.
Thank you all for the replies and advice! I did not accept this offer. The experience did not match my expectations of where I want to spend my next 3 or more years.
