Walmart is probably the largest scale website in the world based on tps

Walmart and Amazon have similar active users. Difference is Walmart allows nearly all bots, it's a management decision to boost seo.

Scale that Walmart operates on is about 1m tps and few if any sites match.

What I'm saying is Myspace was about 5% of the scale of facebook, if you combine Myspace and friendster together and add caching you basically get fb

      5% + 0% + caching = 100%. The math checks out.

What I'm really saying is that fb can just have multiple stacks throughout the world, the only time a serious db hit happens is if someone looks for someone outside their Network and even that can be foreseen, controlled and warmed up for by limiting their options in the UI. There's a reason it takes like 5 minutes to do a search for an obscure person.

We don’t usually seriously hit our dbs. A light slap is enough in most cases, unless they REALLY start misbehaving.

But then one serious hit is enough to get ALL dbs in a data center under control for days.

@albertson I am sorry you seem to be clueless . There is much more than just a DB hit and UI. Anyways , I work at Walmart and am telling you we are no where close to FB/G. Have fun ...

Bots and alt accounts are always a good source to report the growing customer base.

This is hilarious and flattering. Truth be told, we are no where near g/FB. Not even close to amzn.
