Wasn’t prepared when asked about salary expectation, said 100k base but feels it’s way too low for Bay Area. What’s a median base salary for someone with two year experience and worked in FANG (maybe it’s not the point but just saying) Also how should I negotiate it to be higher if I already said a number? I think I’m too risk averse and always gives a low compensation expectation when asked...
What did you do in FANG. We're you FTE at FANG?
I’d look at like 120-130K total compensation as a minimum for that skill set.
100k is the average for 2 yrs based on the skillset you described. If you asked for more you may end up feeling like an imposter once you start working
Also I’m not too sure how it looks on my resume? Would it be worth it to give up amazon title and go there if the role and compensation are both slightly better? Not a amzonian with too long tenure, feels it’s better to work longer in one company but I just like California way more
bachelor plus 2years or master plus 2years? If you’re the later, then the salary range would be way higher than 100k
Ask for the salary range. They need to provide one. What is a Product Analyst? Is that a DAta Science role at Walmart?
Close, but it’s not hard core data scientist, mostly use sql and 30% data modeling if capable, I would assume mainly descriptive analysis for a start
No risk in going high they won’t say o that is too much and hang up the phone. If a recruiter asks me what I want on the phone I always ask for 20k over what I would work for. For instance in the last negotiation I asked for 200k base when I knew the highest they would go is 180k and used that missing 20k to leverage more shares.
