I have been working at the company for almost a year now but would want to try out to be a manager. I believe I have people skills and have unofficially managed people in the past. Do have a Grad degree, not sure if that helps a lot here. I have been working in other industries for about 6 years now. Any suggestions?
I've seen people with 1-2 yoe as people manager. It is weird but possible. You can try applying to manager positions.
Once you're the top seller at your kiosk, you can apply to be assistant to the regional manager.
Lol š
Haha...I laughed out loud
Do you ever talk to your manager about career progression? If you are comfortable then ask him/her what steps you can take. Usually itās easier to start in the same company.
Good idea. Will do thanks!
Also, manager title doesnāt mean much. Iāve met managers who donāt manage any people. Iāve met directors who donāt either. Depends on company and role
Donāt know about T-Mobile, but FB has manager training courses. Worth taking even if you donāt become a manager (learn how managers are trained, taught to think, and their systems for dealing with reports ā all useful info)
Don't just try to become a manager without proper training or understanding what is it to be a good manager. I have seen young managers but there are somethings you only learn with experience.
You have to meet the minimum requirements in the job posting
Find opportunities to lead and demonstrate your leadership skills. You donāt have to be a formal manager to āmanage.ā Demonstrate your ability to lead projects, and to guide and mentor other more junior people on your team. Basically manage your way from your current role into the manager role you want to be in. Work with your manager to identify your blind spots, and to find ways to close the gaps from where youāre at to where you want to be.
Apply for a manager role
I can apply but what can help to outstand ?
