Anyone here currently in a finance role but want to get into Tech? Do you guys think this is a good option if I'm not in investment banking? I'm thinking about going through a boot camp program...What's everyone's opinion? Would love to hear from people who are in the same boat!
Are you happy at your current role? Do you think you'll be happier as a software developer? The money is good now in tech, but it will dry up soon enough. The only thing that will keep you going through the lows is your passion for your work. May be you just need a better job, not a career switch? Personal fulfilment and happiness come from many factors, and you need to do your own math.
How old are you? Can’t speak to boot camps but changing careers from backend finance to software development was the best decision I ever made. Interviewing at google next month.
Also wondering same question. Being non eng sucks these days when salary for eng is 2x higher
When tech goes through a bust cycle, politicking is the most important skill you'll need. Find what you can do where you are, because tech will disappoint you if you think only tech skills will help your career. That's for novices. For everyone, networking and social skills will take you further than your 0-60 performance in coding. You could get into tech later as an executive based on your network and sales/finance experience.
