  • Elliot is gonna lay people off . If you are doing stuff that makes money u r probably ok . If you are a fluff mid level manager , program or product manager or in a new org that makes no money u may be fucked

Yeah I'm a dev so I am not worried about the inevitable slimming down. I'm more worried my team as a whole gets chopped off

I know a ton of Devs here who got canned at the end of last year. PE firms dont care if you are a developer. They will farm your job out to TCS the way they did developers in December. Gordon lied and said it wasnt elliot who were behind the layoffs at the end, but that was a clear lie.

Yaay it's worse than I thought. How tf did we end up with this executive board anyway, some of the sleaziest bunch

Incompetent people, who can survive, stay because they cant do any better. They build towers of their henchmen around them to watch each others backs. If you dont fit their mold they throw you out and bring in another one of their buddies as a director.

Of course you are in danger. They will try to make everything efficient (read possible job cuts). But if there is no queue for your country for GC, then it’s no big deal even if you change jobs

I need till October at least though. It's fucking Elliott of all things too. They even said they have a 5 year gold before dumping us back on the market lol. Possible job cuts more like the apocalypse

Why do you need time until October If the H1b is approved ?

That's when it kicks in. If I get hit with a layoff before then I will be cap subject for the next petition

What leads you to believe GC will only take 6-8 months?

Naive optimism and lack of a backlog

Trust me - best case, it'll take north of a year without backlog.

People are jumping because the economy is doing too well to stay at such a horrible company.

Elliot is going to have to play jesus and turn water into wine to get a company in a useless industry, that lets down every customer they have ever had, and who uses obsolete technology to even appear profitable, much less enough to where somebody else would want to buy it.

On the other hand seeing how we are turning revenue at all despite operating as something out of satire, Elliott might end up making profit by just smacking the orgs around

IMO, your first focus should be surviving till October and not be cap subject for your next transfer. If you are not India/China/Philippines then I'd not even think about the GC process that has not even started. You might be better off jumping ship to a better position than pin your hopes on GC that may or may not materialize. If by October GC process has actually started then it might be worth waiting. It can easily take a year even for non-India/China/PP

Your H1B hasn't even started. You will get 6 years to job hop and eventually pass through the GC process.

It will be much easier to job hop if I can survive till later next year and get my GC though. Besides I would only have 60 days to figure my shit out, find a willing company etc

I understand, but I think you are underestimating how complicated and time-consuming the green card process is, even at it's best. (i. e. not India or China)

Did the company already tell you that they will start the green card process right off the bat? Was that commitment made before or after the acquisition?

That's before. I am simply ignoring the new ownership blocking my process here too
