Thinking about picking up a weekend job or something of the sort to get out and socialize and meet some new people. Not really interested in gig work, maybe something with some equity benefits? Only thing that comes to mind currently is a barista at Starbucks or something. Thoughts? Edit: Just looked into Starbuck’s equity program: 100% 401k match up to 5% of wages 5% discount on stock up to 10% of wages Plus some weird RSU program Other Perks: Free pound of coffee a week 30% discount $1,500 charitable donation match
It's been ages since I worked at Starbucks but fwiw I always felt it'd be a great job of it were just like 2 6-hour shifts a week
Yeah, was just thinking an 8hr on Sunday then pick up shifts if I have the time. Just go in, do my work, socialize, and gtfo.
I was going to say 2 4 hour shifts haha. I still remember some of my regulars even though I haven’t worked there in 4-5 years.
Hmmm I like this train of thought. maybe I could get a job at that cute little espresso place down the street. Would like to spend more time there, & learning how to actually make fancy coffee drinks wouldn't hurt!
Bartender
Slippery slope haha but definitely interesting idea
Bad work times (at night). Did this as a student, great for socializing, but your sleep cycle gets fucked up if you work until early morning (yeah there is cleaning up after work and going home)
Baristas get equity? Nice.
heh actually, I did get about 1200 shares of sbux from my time there as a shift manager :P
I've been thinking about picking up a trainer certification and teaching a fitness class. My friend recommends working at Trader Joe's. Another friend bartends craft cocktails. There's a lot of fun side jobs out there.
Ooohhh Trader Joe’s is an interesting one
I have always liked the people who work at trader Joe's I want to do something non tech. Never did any part-time job so a barista, waitress, trader Joe's, they all fascinate me.

Working at Starbucks will make you never want to talk to people again. Go volunteer or something, meet some hot divorced mom's that think volunteering will magically fill all the holes in their hearts.
Agree with Starbucks. Volunteering is great but not too sure about the MILFs
“magically fill all the holes in their hearts.” Hey they are almost correct 🤣🤣
