Amazonian L4 here. Manager (He is amazing) is focusing on my L4 to L5 jumps. Been less than a year working here. Everyone seems happy with my work, except me. I want to do better, and that's what I came to Amazon for. Work days and work hours go by pretty quick, thanks to discussions, meetings and other issues that come up. My peers, even senior engineers say never work on weekends. But I am going to do it anyway, i enjoy the work, especially because I am getting to know so much. If you disagree working on weekends.why not? I am young, no family so can easily dedicate my weekends now. Note: People who are lazy enough to vote but not comment. Your reason seems to be that you don't want others to progress either. So that u don't get left behind
When you are young, you have the liberty of health, less responsibilities. A job is a job. Not your life. Go out, enjoy with friends, disconnect and have fun! Remember, in a couple of years, your relationships are going to be around and your company is going to prefer newer employees.
Work on to develop yourself rather than spending time for a company especially when it's not asking for your time on weekends. You seem to be uninspired. Good luck!
I have always been the one who gets bored pretty easily. I wanna grow fast so keep things interesting.
You're young with no family. Go relax, rest, and recharge. Go out with friends. Go enjoy the city, sports, events, and people. Promotions and money are great but so is living a life outside of work.
I think i should never cancel on plans for work. But i should work when i dont have plans rather than waste time watching anime
You should work 997. It’s good for mental health
Don't know what u talkin' abt
9am to 9pm 7 days a week
Today you are young and energetic. Probably no family. When you work on weekends you raise the bar for yourself and for everyone around you. Two things will happen, your peers will hate you for it, and will seek revenge. Second, at some point your managers will get used to you delivering more and working more hours. They'll expect more of you.
Jeez, there is a reason for having a weekends, right?
I see no rational reason for weekends
Oh you poor thing 😬
Yes go ahead, working weekends is good for me, I mean you!
If it is to acquire knowledge and experience which you can leverage in other personal ventures go ahead. But if it is for the sake of your boss, I would definitely pass.
"youth is wasted on the young"
If you want to work on weekends you are free to. However, taking breaks can replenish your energy, keeping you happy and allowing you to be more effective when you do work.
That's a valuable thing to say.
