What analytic software do other companies use

I usually do most of my forecast and data models in excel. The company is pushing tableau and I have also heard about cognos. Anyone know of the best software for bi and advanced data models?

Not so much technical I'm more of a dev ops role. I manage all of the finances for our projects as well as internal budgets etc

Matlab then? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Would rather use Matlab than SAS

I work in financial audit analytics. We use Tableau Software a lot. We use SQL server or Hadoop for more complex analyses. Depends really on your definition of "advanced data models", who you are catering to, and the volumes of data you plan to be able to handle.

Do you find tableau that useful. I don't know too much about the software but feel like it's just simple graphs

It's definitely quite useful. Powerful functionalities packages in a way that it doesn't require too much training. It's a lot more than just fancy data visualization

SAS datos Aug 8, 2017

Use SAS if you have it. It has visualization and drag and drop analytics. Or you can program if that tickles your fancy.

I was wondering what Comcast used. I'm thinking about applying there , but seems like there is a lack of python and sql and Hadoop usage there which is what I wanted to get into. here we are mostly using excel ,but tableu is really being pushed. I'm a much bigger fan of tableu vs qlik

Qlik

Redshift (SQL). Wish we could use Tableau more, would save me a lot of time.

PowerBI has started kicking Tableau and Qlik out.

I was not a fan of qlik. I like tableau though. is power bi much better?

I was a fan of Tableau and it's vizql engine is still great. From a visualisation perspective PowerBI is more or less on par with Tableau. However PBi seems to be better around cloud data sources and realtime / timeseries data

I use Tableau. I like the low bar on entry for simpler data viz but as you ramp up it has a lot of capabilities.
