I graduated in 2016 and am SDE2 at an SF tech company (not Cisco, a little better). I have built features on my own, started a business in college that had 5-figure revenue, also done (somewhat) substantial side projects. I want to transition into PM at FANG or a unicorn, but my CS degree (bachelor of arts) is from a no name liberal arts school. Do I need to go back for an MIS/MBA at Berkeley or something to achieve what I want? I was also thinking of lateral move to a decent company (sub-FANG) then working my way up to FANG. This would shield me from the substantial opportunity cost of doing school full time again. However, it may have a lower chance of long term success since I have no brand names on my resume. Cal will cost ~30k in state, and I lose a salary of $150k/year which is really just 100k after taxes. I do not plan on receiving assistance from my parents for school.
Curious to know, why go for fang if u have ability to generate 5 figure rev on side projects...just do that more
No kidding....fashion statement??
That side business may not scale. For example: SEO consulting for 30 hours a week with $1k of sales a month. There is a reason OP went for SWE
Why do you think you need a masters at all to work for a FANG???

Sick VP about to be Thought a Lesson
One way is to use your network. Another way would be to start MBA and find an internship, make a good network. Another way is to start as a contractor.
