What company has the shittiest code/devops?

Bonus points if you work there and participate in it daily.

Consult for a well known fintech company, can confirm. Massive shit show. They have literally every single technology stack you’ve ever heard of, and 100 low English offshores who can’t do shit about it. Hence, 7 figure technical consultant spend 😉

I have been on the both sides.. I agree about the mess but why bring race/region in discussion ..? I have met some of the most amazing engineers and they are from all nationalities.

Maybe among FAANG, but definitely not among all large companies. Banks as mentioned above are terrible. Healthcare is horrid. Lots of area that would make the worst team at any FAANG look like rockstars.

Ahahaha I can bet and win the bet :))) ever saw an ansible playbook rendering a docker-compose file to disk, then launch another container (one of the 79 on that node) which has a bash business logic in it, that mounts all of these rendered docker-compose files, runs the "docker-compose up" to start them all, and remains as a daemon, to restart any of the crashed containers (shhhh! Don't tell them about "--restart=always" flag!), and sometimes that bash "supervisor" container denies to launch itself so you gotta debug wtf is going on. lol, and no, you're not allowed to optimise or refactor this. "And the winner is! AnchorFree!" :D

I stopped trying to follow like 10 words in. I'm sorry for your loss

Only the one who worked in a similar shitty codebase will be able to follow until the grand finale 🤣

Pure Storage useourname Nov 3, 2019

A guy at Dropbox said they have 1 day per week, 20% of their time, devoted to crashes and unexplained compile errors - idk though that was just hearsay.

Jesus, they have a simple storage product, wtf they can't figure out incremental sync of files? Lol
