I did not add a poll since I wanna know the reason rather than just random clicks. The current valuation is around 40$ do you think it’ll go under water or skyrocket or neutral? Any possibility it’ll follow Snap and Dropbox’s paths?
It’ll tank heavily
Depends if they can get away with breaking the law. That's a novel business model, will create a precedent. I heard some people, like Al Capone tried it, but not on web scale/with internet. I have a name for business approach: disrupting the law.
It’ll definitely go up. You can’t compare Uber to Snap or Dropbox market cap.. Uber is a different animal. Even if I’m not attracted by the company per se, they’re tackling a gigantic market with tones of possible expansions... we will ultimately see a huge sell after IPO but the product/market is too good. $40 a share looks pretty cheap at a $60 billion MC
If Market conditions are the same as today it'll skyrocket. If the tech bubble pops from now until then - - who knows
Tech bubble pop means more Uber drivers
Yes but exuberance for tech will be lower
The range is anywhere from $30 - $90 in the first 12 months. Depends on the metrics, similar to FB, if they aren’t treated with seriousness then it’ll tank. The fact that we have Dara, who was a CFO and CEO of public companies and our new CFO, Nelson Chai, was CFO/CEO of stock exchanges and Wall St. firms means they will know how to craft the right metrics. So, the thing that’s left is execution risk. Uber’s business has been growing(see last quarters numbers) and if it can keep a healthy pace up the numbers will take care of themselves.
Good points. That said, the pace of growth for the core business has been slowing down and it’s a low margin business. To drive multiples and valuation up, Uber will have to show that other bets or verticals are high potential growth/profit: Eats, freight, ATG, etc. Beside Eats, rest is yet to be convincing, so still a lot of work to be done. I think it’s an exciting perspective.
Eats is a hockey stick. Freight will be profitable, not sure about the hockey stick there. May need to make an acquisition or two in the space. ATG is a pile of 💩 - I expect the autonomous story to change significantly between now and the IPO
How to get the current value of the stock?
I believe the stock will IPO anywhere from 40 to 80. Most likely 50-65.
It will go up like Snap did initially, traditional investors are hungry to invest.
What's the market capitalization at $40? Ultimately, the share price is only part of the equation.
