Can they be successful (like Uber/Lyft)? Is it a good industry in scooter sharing? I also saw Uber shows scooters and bikes.
They have the potential to be a success in walkable cities like most cities in Europe and Asia. Think it will be a fad in most cities in the US and will die soon.
I have the same feeling cuz most US people have cars. A great development of bike sharing has been seen in China, I just wonder if people would like it for short distance trip, getting rid of parking and traffic jam issues.
In live in miami and most people on the scooters I see are >16
Who said Uber is successful 😳?
Haha I knew someone would say this, so I used parentheses in advance. At least they made some impact, changed the car sharing market, personally. I’m curious if Bird/Lime could get same level of U/L and if it’s good time/chance to join Bird/Lime.
Lol I think scooter sharing can be profitable in my opinion.
True, probably the market could be big enough to be profitable? Seems there’s a lot of engineers from Riot?
Yeah, I think at the beginning that would cost a lot for lost and etc. not sure if they have any plan to fix this. But I heard they’re taking actions to decrease that.
Are they the source of all the trashed bikes lying everywhere? Surprised cities haven’t seized their assets under eminent domain and put them in a dumpster.
😂 same critics in China bike sharing
Stolen shdnt matter much? A bike is worth $200? 30 rides on a bike and it's already broken even.
Yes, I agree they need some actions to prevent from being stolen, broken etc.
Awesome! I guess Lime also competes with Uber jump? But I also saw Lime on Uber app?
This is a tricky case here. Uber is our investor on C round and they have exclusive deal with us that they need to present our scooters in their app. And yes, they are investing actively on jump as well.
If using it frequently as in commute, one may want to own a foldable scooter instead of paying every time. Bird/Lime could be profitable, just as car rental companies can. But not as their crazy hyped valuations.
Oh yeah, I saw people bring scooters and skip boards on bus/metro. Did they just put Uber mode on scooters? 😂
Lime is laying off people and pulling out of some cities
Ah thanks for sharing, just saw the news. Looks they will have a very important year.
I’d love to see their loss numbers from stolen/broken equipment. The Idea is great but the unsightly nature of bikes/scooters laying around the city streets irks me. Be great if they could have designated pickup locations with more staff picking up and reallocating locations throughout the day.
I agree, it’s better to arrange scooter/bikes well.
