Genuine question. If it’s to attract and hire more diverse pool of candidates, isn’t that a head of recruitment’s job? What do they do really?

And in my company, give BJs to the CEO then with the board's help, move to become Google's VP of Diversity when the CEO's wife goes apeshit at the HQ. Usually the role is given to older African American females (the only demographic "more oppressed" would be an older LGBT African American female -- paging Wanda Sykes), but in my company's special case, it was given to a young-ish white female. The CEO's 🍆 was a big decision maker.
Don’t forget the use of the corporate jets to shuttle her around for rendezvous encounters.

I’m all for d&i recruiting efforts but I honestly don’t know because they don’t typically recruit
A Head of Diversity takes up valuable space on your budget.
I’ve noticed a lot of them are more figurehead representations of diversity - some companies appoint clueless people to this role, others appoint people with more academic backgrounds in diversity. Potentially (and ideally) the Head of Diversity would understand research regarding not only hiring, but sustaining employees happiness via diversity groups, attend a lot of conferences, and overall improve the image of the company. E.g., trendy and diverse versus old and white. I’ve also seen them act as a pseudo-Legal clearer for marketing departments.
Crafts policy to try ensure that the makeup of a company isn't just a blinkered monoculture of white dudes like it is on Blind.
So... How is Blind oppressing all other minorities that they cannot join or post here? Or are you saying that those minorities cannot do anything themselves and need handholding?

It's a relatively inexpensive way for companies to signal that they are woke to diversity causes.
