What happens if u report senior manager?

I think I have a case to show retaliation by a senior manager. I want to report it up the ladder to their manager. What are the consequences?

Sir I would recommend either change groups or even better company.

Its a very dangerous move. It can back fire and you can end up getting pipped. Be very careful.

Internal transfer first.

It makes no sense to do it. The senior manager is not going to get pushed out for one person, and you'll end up in a difficult spot. It's better to leave, and if you're that determined to complain, do it when leaving.

No good ever comes out of it. Consult an employment attorney before this move

Even without opening the message, I knew it was Amazon

Retaliation for what?

NO, HR protects: leadership > management > you

At my company you would take this to the corporate ethics officer or an HR person outside of the chain. In theory you could take it to any manager, but this person is already your bosses boss. You go to their boss first make sure you understand their relationship and also that you Sr managers boss knows who you are first. I think a fair investigation would take place and no consequences for you if the report was made in good faith. I hear lots of shitty stuff about amazon. Ymmv . I would talk to Amazon people in the Amazon area on Blind.

It's great to realize that HR at any company is not on your side and reporting stuff about your upper management will come back to bite you in the ass or hurt your career. I've worked in more places than Amazon, but in general you always need to be skeptical of HR and going against senior leadership. This goes for almost every profression

HR is there to protect the company , but part of that is not having an unhappy workforce (from what I understand, Amazon does not care much about that), and a major part of protection is avoiding lawsuits. So, if you have a legit complaint that violates fair labor practices they will act. But yeah, this is partly why you should report to an ethics officer first.

What is an ethics officer? Thanks for the great advice, listening carefully!

Lockheed Martin Schz3 Aug 21, 2019

Maybe Amazon does not have a dedicated ethics officer. There will be the compliance officer though.
