What if I can’t get into FANG post-grad?
Based on what I’ve been seeing on Blind, I feel as if those who aren’t in FANG spend their time trying to get into FANG or end up in a dead end job. I’ve had 3 internships so far and I’m nearing graduation now.
I’ve done lots of leetcode and just had my Google onsite, for which I feel 60% confident I’ll be able to convert into an offer (application reached HC). My friends have told me that I have a pretty stacked resume and I’ve worked hard over the past few years, but I feel like going to a non-fang will be identical to my experience going to a non-target school: I’ll be looked down upon by everyone else.
For those in non top-tier companies (not fang and not Lyft, LinkedIn, Uber, etc) do you feel like you’re looked down upon by others (esp “top tier”? Are you happy?

All FANG is, well is just that.
Great founders went out and started plenty of other wonderful and impactful companies where work is more interesting than fang
Trust us
Atleast for Indians while getting arrange married, whether you are in a FANG or not does matter heavily.
When you say you work for FB or G or A , it builds a certain credibility around you as opposed to working for a no name company.
So yeah, FANG does matter ! Atleast in the short run
Two wrongs don't make it a right.
Girls won’t even consider you if u don’t have an h1b.
I enjoy my job. I have a nice manager and I’m working on an interesting project. Even though people here talk shit about Oracle I’m still glad I declined an offer from FB when I graduated.
Now FB stock is fucked up and I’m still having my 125/260/40 package with 0.5 yoe.
Go shop around and focus on project/team instead.
Not everyone at FANG started at FANG; and not everyone at FANG will stay at FANG.
Short answer: there are fulfilling careers outside of FANG.
There are too many unskilled entry level employees at amazon, mostly Indians. They use the term FANG all the time and believe they are superior to non fang people.
Even if you make it to (whatever you consider is) the top of the mountain, there will still be plenty of people who will look down on you.
Haters gonna hate.
Find what you love and pursue it.
You’ll only get looked down on if you have the mentality that FANG is superior. It’s not. It’s just a well paying job at certain companies. And there are plenty of those at other companies especially after you are no longer a new grad.
Just be grateful for what you got. That's all that matter.
