I just got pinged by DB recruiter and am wondering what Dropbox is up to? What big initiative is happening over there? DB is definitely a strong tech company but is the Product going anywhere?
one trick pony. why buy it when onedrive is unlimited and included with ever major customer O365 subscription.
You've gotta start somewhere
Thats a good question.. Anyone could answer properly can help many.. Same goes to Twitter for me ..
Twitter is completely different. My strong belief is that Twitter should be taken private/nonprofit, and should try to be a public service, like Craigslist or Reddit. This implies that the product as it has emerged is of great value to society. So, if you would check the box for "making the world a better place" as one of the reasons you do what you do, then Twitter should not be dismissed.
They hire top talent but their business is shit
Nop i think they are in stealth mode .. coz those folks wouldn't have stayed there if they were to screw the career.. Thats just my opinion
I love their product - they have the best UI. Not sure about the future though.
Best perf/reliability too
No future.
I was considering an offer from there and chatted with some of their product people. They do have a market niche and have new initiatives (e.g. paper, their collaboration product) but I didn't see real growth potential. There was no hint at things that they couldn't tell me about.
Dropbox has amazing engineering culture, quite possibly much bette than google or Facebook of today. And they do have some very engineers. Having said that I don't think they have much of a future. Storage is commoditized. Paper is basically a flop. It is very hard for them to recruit top talent anymore given how weak their offers are. I recently had bunch of offers and Dropbox had by far the lowest tc. I almost felt sad for the recruiter.
Wishing for an exit
Go straight to the source and reply to the recruiter ! Don't deny yourself an opportunity to learn more. Difference is company size under 2k employees. https://www.cloudwards.net/dropbox-vs-google-drive-vs-onedrive/
I did and what I'm trying to get is what insiders think about Dropbox's future. Recruiters always give koolaid
Dropbox recruiters are still quoting the $19 a share price. The food is really amazing so it is worth interviewing. 100% would recommend
