It's WeWork, not WeWorkLifeBalance <3
Actually The We Company - and one of the divisions is WeLive
TheyWork
The real question is why does a construction company needs engineers ?
Same reason why a taxi company needs scientists and an online bookstore sells cloud services.
Uber and Lyft are coordinating rides, multi point pickups, real time pricing and a bunch of other things. They actually have a lot of technology. WeWork is a construction company that makes offices, I don't see them doing anything that needs engineers let alone an IT guy. I'm sure they do stuff and can afford amazing talent, I just don't know what that is.
Which office? New York? Very relaxed, you can come at 10 and leave at 5, no questions asked as long as you do you job
How flexible are the teams about WFH or working from other WeWork locations? Can I just go to Alaska and work from a wework there?
Temporarily? Yes. Wfh is ok at least once a week but depends on a team.
Nowadays it's great, "team home" concept means no one on my team shows up anymore, we all "work" from home
WLB at WeWork in NYC is actually fantastic. Haven’t ever had to work on a weekend, almost never go over 40 hours, and nobody gives me shit from WFH once a week or so.
WLB in SF sucks, we’ve had multiple people burnout entirely (some are even MIA it seems) and there are some teams that are rumored to have slave drivers for managers. I see people regularly working nights and weekends despite us not having crazy deadlines. All weirdly self imposed, and a lot of koolaid drinkers here sadly. I hear NYC can be nice, but people keep getting secretly laid off since the last “fiasco”
it's very nice in NYC. one or two days WFH a week, no overtime pretty much.
To everyone passing by wondering: Just check the negative glassdoor reviews. There’s a reason directors leave the company and people have such sort tenures. The positive ones are mostly fake and just done by a few managers and their reports for recruiting cause glug glug glug koolaid Some of it depends on the team, but the truth is you have the rare exception and I wish mine was as cushy as yours. I just keep my head down and nod yes with the cultists to keep from being targeted.
The interesting part though, is if you search and filter the reviews specifically for software, the rating is a 4.8. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not without its share of problems, but the tech org’a culture is pretty different from the rest in my experience.
Damn, that says a lot about you. If you were any good you would join another company instead of keeping your head down, “nod yes” and follow the “cultists” like a sheep. Instead of trashing on the company that is helping you make a living, you should improve your skills and focus on yourself and being a better version of you. We can all improve and having growth mentality can serve you well my friend. If correction is needed, have the balls to email Adam (yes the CEO) or anyone else in management. Think big!
It's in the name of the company for crying out loud: We Work.
