Looking for TC numbers. I'd like to learn more about avg, 90th, and 99th percentile numbers for newgrad, 3yoe, 5yoe, 8yoe. Any data points? TC 300K YOE: 4 L5
Sorry, don't want to provide a lot of info.
Does Jane Street have a bay area office?
No, only in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam.
I talked to a former intern there, his return offer was 300k for a new grad and he said you will rapidly progress to 500k in the first 3-4 years.
Very few people are going to have the data you're looking for. Even internally comp is pretty secretive. A typical new grad offer these days would be 250k. After that, the range quickly gets very large. At 3-4 years, you're probably looking at 300-350k at the low end, and 600k+ at the high end. I have no idea where the median or anything like that falls. However, time at JS is more important than external experience. Expect an offer to come in at the low end of that range, although the bonus may end up being quite a bit higher than your offer letter says if you perform well (mine was, by >100k).
Are you a dev or a trader?
Dev
Fwiw JS interviews and trading firms in general have been quite different both from each other and from other tech companies in my experience
Nice thread! I'm really curious what the dev/trader relationship is like at JS. Can anybody comment?
You made L5 with 4 yoe? Just stay at Google! The biggest problem with Google is the progression
This is true. But if OP wants more money, then JS definitely offers more
Isn't 300 low for L5 though?
