I heard massive layoffs are going on in Qualcomm, Nvidia, and some at Intel. Is this the start of a GEO shift for HW jobs in the valley?
Do you mean hw business is over?
Yeah, who needs hardware? Everything runs in the cloud! There's need for only 4 clouds in the world.
OP, are you magnetics expert in Hardware? I have a friend very much expert in magnetics, but worried for future job opportunities
Thats nt good... 😕
Hopefully they leave the valley and housing prices go down for the rest of us? :P
HW engineers are not the ones pushing up the prices since their TC is low compared to SWEs. Housing prices going down will only happen if FANG collapses and Chinese investors give up on the SF Bay as a place to stash their cash.
Intel Santa Clara HQ is a dead office. 5% managers, 10% old rest and vesters, 80% H-1Bs, and 5% new college grads for old managers to grope. Site closures throughout the world have been happening in the past few months, but not India. Just rename it to Indel.
50% entry level engineers 😨
Nvidia layoffs ? Where did you hear this ?
Qualcomm has been in major-layoff mode for 5 years. Stock is dead in the water. I left 5y ago and EVERY SINGLE employee who built that company, 1995-2010, is completely GONE! The good ones went to Apple, Google, or Retired, etc. Qualcomm will never be great again, the managers there are way too greedy...
Bubble bursting. The party is over.
