What is the best way to ask for more money?

I’m an L4 Business Analyst at Amazon making 135K+ total comp with over half in stock. My base salary is low and I want more cash. But how do I justify asking for more money when payscale says I make 100% more than most BAs in same industry and w same years of experience? How would you approach this conversation? A lot of my colleagues have been hearing, “your total comp is really high this year because of stocks, so no raise for you.”

It’s Amazon.. You’re only really gonna get a noticeable base increase if you get TT or promoted

Silly question but what is TT in this context?

It is top talent or top tier? Basically your OLR rating.

No money. You give?

If you are valuable you can go out and get an external competing offer. But you need to be willing to follow through to make that happen. Alternatively, persistently let your manager know you are disappointed with your base and they can adjust over time. Unit of measure being years. Just asking without a strong reason for management to act will not lead anywhere.

Leave for another company and tell them it was because of pay

Let me get this straight. So you’re making half of your total comp in salary and half in stock (likely thanks to the stock going up). Your research indicates other people in your role/level make about half what you do. So, they make in total what you make in salary. And you want more salary. Why? What’s your argument? Amazon is already overpaying you (that’s the benefit of staying with the company and the stock going up). And your salary alone is apparently already competitive. Unless you can explain why you want a salary bump, you just sound greedy.

Who cares if he's greedy? None of us deserve these salaries, the market dictates what we're worth. If he's worth more, he should make more.

“Deserve” is really the wrong concept to be used in a free market.

Yea I don’t get it. You’re making market base and double than market in TC w stock. Why should they pay you more?
