Now he is saying that look outside microsoft and he has 2 weeks for the same. I bel company like microsoft should have a proper PIP plan or pink slip process, which they shd communicate to the employee. Could some one from Microsoft enlighten me over the same?

Of course HR is involved

Is this due to performance?

Yes, as per his manager.

No pip in Microsoft because usually pips are anyways gamed

Google fe09f OP Sep 21, 2019

What happened then, what is the process for low performers?

Microsoft orki Sep 21, 2019

It has to be careful documentation and feedback , if it still doesn’t improve , involving HR to work on next steps (not PIP - but based on circumstances it might end up being something similar to PIP). So pip is not normal - more like an exception if there is no improvement and the person is not leaving.

What? What companies doesn't do PiP?

Microsoft iamletired Sep 21, 2019

No PIP process but firing people is hard and requires a lot of documentation

Microsoft kebabs Sep 22, 2019

That is BS. It would pay to read the employment contract you signed. You did read it before signing, right? Washington state is an “at will” employment state, which means that either the employer or employee may terminate an employment relationship at any time. This also means that an employer can terminate the employee’s employment without providing a reason. Therefore, absent an employment contract specifying terms of employment termination, the employment is at will.

Red Hat BrainLag Sep 22, 2019

Kebab - and you obviously haven’t been called out in a discrimination lawsuit over terminating someone. 😉 It’s not hard to fire anyone. It’s also not hard to file a lawsuit. It would help your sarcastic ass to know that ALL states are at-will states lol.

The writing is on the wall for your friend and he should probably just leave. There's no point in fighting it.

Google fe09f OP Sep 22, 2019

Yeah, I agree. But changing jobs on work permit takes time, and thats why he wants to understand the firing process.
