I have 3 years experience , 2 years as tech support and a year as QA . Currently in touch with HR Arron google for a sales engineering role in GCE google cloud . What should be the compensation range if I am asked ? Also she might ask about the commission percentage I am expecting . This is very initial stage !
What exactly is a “sales engineer”?
The position is called “google cloud sales engineer “ they asked me coding in python as well. I guess they reached out to me seeing that I already have knowledge of cloud technologies
Gotcha, ok.
You aren’t remotely qualified to be an SE. 3 years of tech support and QA? lol I know Google has been going nuts trying to hire SE’s for Google Cloud, but that’s just ridiculous.
Wow appd , he is applying for saes role not se .
What I meant by SE is Sales Engineer which is literally the job he is applying for. Without previous SE experience, SaaS experience or even SWE experience, he’s not even remotely qualified.
Firstly I am a “she” secondly why the assumption that I don’t have knowledge Of SaaS?
Also my question is very straightforward , what is the salary for a Bay Area cloud sales engineer at google ?
Is there sales engineers here at all? How much realistically they can make( not necessary only at google)? Comparable to SWE?
Typical OTE I’ve seen is 175k-225k not including equity/RSU’s. Because a portion (typically 30% of OTE) is commission based, making 300k+ is completely realistic if you’ve got a good product. We get less equity since we’re incentivized by making sales but I vest around 60k a year in addition to my salary and commissions. When you get above 100% quota, you get into accelerators. For me, that means I make 2.5x for every dollar I sell after I make my quota. I think the biggest differentiator for the SE career path is that we are field personnel. I don’t live in the Bay Area and made ~330k this year. We actually have very few SE’s in the Bay Area - most of my colleagues are in Denver, Texas, Atlanta, Chicago, Ohio, etc.
What is the expected equity for Sales engineer with 10 years exp?
OP were you able to find out an answers for your question?
Yes and know I got a general idea but not really google position specific
OP , did you end up interviewing for this role ?
Hahaha
What’s there to laugh?
