(Posting on behalf of a friend) I have a bachelors in Mechanical engineering from India with 2 years of experience as a Quality engineer at Mahindra. I am planning to pursue MS in aerospace engineering. As an international student on visa, I wanted to know what are the job prospects later on? I have heard majority of the jobs require security clearance or have to be a US citizen. True? Thanks!
Zero, zilch, nada unless you have a green card in the US. It's highly protected technology
Okay. Thanks for your inputs.
India space program is one of the best in the world if your main concern is making an impact. For a career in the US though, you'd be better off joining a software company if you don't have a green card. The whole aerospace industry is super protected and generally underpays compared to software engineering

Your friend might want to contact Boeing and ask about Boeing Research & Technology; they have facilities in India. If he/she works on the commercial side, there are more opportunities.
