... compared to Google, Dropbox, Facebook, Uber etc., except TC?
Pretty much TC. Maybe lack of locations outside Redmond. Most of the old stigma about MS moving slow and having toxic ranking seems to have mostly dissipated
Yes and no. Newer generations after Balmer's era are nicer. But MS is full of ppl w more than 6 yrs and there are still that type of thinking rooted in their daily behaviors in collaboration.
What is "that type"? You think people become dull after 6 years or you don't appreciate someone else more senior than you in the team?
Apart from the reasons already listed, It's still a bloated company where things move slowly, especially in some orgs.
Microsoft is the place to go if you want to retire at a country club while still earning six figures, for the most part
No free food. Low tc. Lower bar to get in
I'd also add two levels per title which is annoying af
I don't want to work on Windows ever. Terrible terminal and rediculioues file system.
At least we have nice keyboards, not ridiculous iPhones :)
Location
TC and low bar is a great point.
Underestimating the learning opportunities. Less hype.
